APC YOUTH MISSION TRIP '08
The APC High School Youth group returned to John's Island, SC again for our forth year of working with Sea Island Habitat for Humanity. This year, our group of thirteen were challenged by the extreme heat of Charleston. With temps hovering in the upper 90's, our group roofed a four bedroom house, installed vinyl siding, dug out and constructed forms for concrete pads for driveways and backdoor footers, and painted and installed mailboxes. We also had groups working on "punch lists" making sure that the houses were completely done and ready for inspection.
In the month of July, Sea Island Habitat for Humanity will be opening the neighborhood that we worked in up for homeowners to move in. There will be thirty houses ready, and thirty families moving into new homes. We can't wait to go back next year and see the finalization of raw land becoming a nice, safe neighborhood for these families.
Carowinds anyone?
We are looking at making a trip to Carowinds on Tuesday, July 15th. The cost will be $30 which includes admisson to the park and lunch. If you'd like to go, let Frank or Jennifer know ASAP! Seating will be limited, so it's APC Youth first, and then guest as space is available.
WHITE WATER TIME!!
Don't forget to get your forms and money in for our annual white water rafting trip to Ocoee, TN. We'll challenge the Ocoee River, site of the 1996 Olympic White water events. If you need forms or have questions, see Frank ASAP! Trip dates are Friday, July 25th-Sunday, July 27th.
